My Doctor
Jeremiah 8.21 Since my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me.
22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?
Mark 6.53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.
54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus.
55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.
56 And wherever he went-into villages, towns or countryside-they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.
Some people abuse themselves with bad habits for 40 years and then expect the doctor to heal them in a few weeks...or days. Some patients complain because the doctor does not seem interested in listening to them for more than a few minutes...or seconds.
However, most of us recognize their limitations. They have limited knowledge and resources for healing. They have limited time to spend with us. They too will succumb to a physical assault that will stop their hearts. If they are wise, they will not guarantee success when they talk about treatments. They will admit their limitations.
Consider the doctor who never lost a patient! I am impressed with the enthusiasm of those who brought their friends to Jesus. Can you imagine the popularity of a cardiologist who has treated hundreds of patients and never lost one? This gives us an idea about the responses to Jesus. He never failed to heal those He treated. He was showing compassion and demonstrating His divinity at the same time. Only God could heal as Jesus healed.
Furthermore, Jesus stays with His patients. He will never leave those He has rescued from Satan and the disease of sin:
Hebrews 13.5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." 6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
Dear Father, we are so grateful for the healing that lasts--the healing from sin provided by the Savior. We are grateful to be able to always live in Your presence because of what Christ has done for us. Help us to rejoice in this knowledge today as we present our Doctor to those who need Him. Help those who are hurting. We ask this in the name of our Great Physician. Amen.
1 John 5.14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Only God can know HOW our prayers WORK but we believe HE answers. Please write me to add names to the prayer list and to report changes in status.
Let us be thankful and prayerful!
