WHY DOES THE LORD NOT ACCEPT SOME BELIEVERS? Part 1
Jesus said, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you who work iniquity.” (Mt. 7: 21, 22.
Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” On the one hand Jesus said that believers should not perish. On the other hand He condemned some for working iniquity and said that He never knew them. “Should” is an expression of desire. It does not indicate a fixed destiny. Not all believers are saved.
The first group were people whom the Lord often heard worshipping Him, confessing Him and declaring their faith saying, “Lord, Lord.” Yet, in the end, He didn’t know them. As we read this we are forced to ask, “How can one be a believer and a worshipper of God and God NOT know them? How is it there are some believers He does NOT know?” If He does not know them, then it could only be that they were never a part of His family. How can one be a believer and not be in the family of God?
Also consider Peter’s comment, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who secretly shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” (2 Pt. 2: 1). Some whom the Lord bought (i.e. believers), will be condemned.
