TRUST AND OBEY

A father and his son went for a walk one day in the jungles of Africa. It was their routine to do so every morning. The boy was young and become very obedient to do everything his father had told him to do. On this particular day, however, the boy had gone ahead of his father and was playing in the grass near some trees when suddenly the father shouted for his son. He yelled his name and directed him to lie down. Not understanding, but totally trusting in his father, he obeyed. The father then directed him to crawl out of the grass. Still not understanding why, he crawled toward his father as if it were some kind of game.

When the boy reached his father, he was greeted with a huge hug. His father praised him for his unquestionable obedience and told him how proud he was of him for doing exactly as he was directed. Even though the boy did not fully understand what was going on, he obeyed. The father then turned his son around to show him why he was told to do all these things. Above the area where he had been playing was a huge boa constrictor that would have easily squeezed the life out of him had he remained standing where he had been.

There have been and will be many times when I'm not sure why God wants me to do something, but I must completely trust that He knows what's best for my life. The safest place for us to be is wherever we are when we trust and obey God. He knows what is best for us, even when we don't understand! "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. " Proverbs 3:5-6.
