TRUE TO THE FAITH

Acts 14:21, “They preached the good news in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch,

22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God, they said.

You may spend some time watching great athletes compete in baseball and football games in the next few weeks. Know that they did not become strong, skilled and proficient by eating ice cream in a hammock! Barnabas and Paul wanted the disciples to know that the way of Christ is not necessarily easy. God wants us to face each day with the determination to be true to the faith. He wants us to encourage others to be true to the faith regardless of the hardships.

Dear Father, we are grateful for the encouragement in Christ. Make us strong, effective encouragers as we experience joys and hardships. Help those who are hurting. We ask this in the name of Christ, the beloved. Amen.

1 John 5.14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
