THEY SAID IT!
* Don't gamble; don't bet on cards; don't bet on horse races; don't throw dice." This is the advice of John W. (Bet a Million) Gates, a multi-millionaire, who at one time played bridge for $ 1,000 a point, matched pennies for $1,000 a turn, wagered $50,000 on a poker hand, and bet hundreds of thousands on horse races. He died broke in 1911.
* "He who gambles and wins is a thief. He who gambles and loses is a fool."
* Gamblers "down on their luck" need reminding of the maxim, "Hard work is the eraser of hard luck." More bumper stickers need to read, Fight poverty. Work instead of Avoid work Gamble. No pot of gold is at the end of the gambler's rainbow, but a pot of food is at the end of a workday.
