AN OLYMPIC CROWN

Luke 17.7 "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? 8 Would he not rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? 9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’"

If you have watched some of the Olympic speed events, you are probably familiar with the abbreviation, WR. The ultimate goal for the elite speedsters is to swim or run the race faster than anyone has and to be recognized as the world record holder. Few accomplish this.

The good news for the Christian is that the Father does not require WRs. He desires your PB (personal best). When you have faithfully done your duty, He will not say, "You are too slow." He will not say, "You deserve heaven." He declares, "My grace is sufficient!" He requires faithfulness--not perfection or superlative performance. His grace is sufficient!

1 Corinthians 15.58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

He assures you that He will reward your PB with the crown of victory. It is great to be a Christian!

2 Timothy 4.7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

1 John 5.14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Only God can know HOW our prayers WORK but we believe HE answers. Please write me to add names to the prayer list and to report changes in status.

Let us be thankful and prayerful!

Love,
Brad Forgy
