Self Care Romans 12.3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 14.19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. When the human body fails to properly nourish and protect one if its parts, disease ensues. For example, if the blood flow to your brain is impeded by an obstruction in a carotid artery, you may quickly become paralyzed--unable to speak or move your limbs due to a stroke (also known as a cardiovascular accident or CVA) or you may suddenly die. Many--particularly those with diabetes milletus and cardiovascular diseases--lose their feet after their bodies have failed to properly nourish and protect them.This can also happen in the church and that is why we are told to care for each other. We have a duty to love and encourage one another--to help each other to remain alive and well. When we extend ourselves to edify one another, we are helping to prevent spiritual strokes and amputations. We are helping to promote and preserve the health of the body of Christ. Dear Father, we are so grateful to be part of Your forever family--the body of Christ. Help us to extend ourselves to one another with kindness and truth--to love the way You love and to help one another to remain connected to the Head. Help those who are hurting. We ask this in the name of Christ, the Beloved. Amen. 1 John 5.14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
