Ridicule Changed to Rejoicing

Luke 8.49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of  Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t  bother the teacher any more.”

50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and  she will be healed.”

51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with  him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.

52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,”  Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”

53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.

54 But he took her by the  hand and said, “My child, get up!”

55 Her spirit returned, and at once she  stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.

They knew she was dead and they considered Jesus a ridiculous fellow.  They  may have said something like, "How can you be so cruel as to give Jairus  hope?"

Jesus was never cruel.  His compassion and power transformed their ridicule  to rejoicing.

Dear Father, we are so grateful for the Christ, our Hope of glory.  We take  Him and His words seriously.  We know that He always keeps His promises.  May  we rejoice in Him as we show His love to others today.  Help those who are  hurting.  We ask this in the name of Christ, the Beloved.  Amen.

1 John 5.14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask  any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  15 And if we know that he  hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we  desired of him.

Only God can know HOW our prayers WORK but we believe HE answers. Please  write me to add names to the prayer list and to report changes in status.

Let us be thankful and prayerful!

Love
Brad Forgy
