Do You Have Time (Not) To Pray?

I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day!
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me
and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.
He answered, "You didn't ask"
I tried to come into God's presence
and used all the keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
"Why, child, you did not knock."
I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on gray and bleak.
I wondered why God didn't show —
He said "But you didn't seek!"
I woke up early this morning
and paused before entering the day.
I had so much to accomplish,
that I I HAD to TAKE time to pray.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if His Son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" (Matthew 7:7-11)
