In order for Jesus to fulfill the Abrahamic promise, He had to establish a kingdom in which peace would rule and establish a law to govern that kingdom. Without some guidance, it could be difficult to realize that His kingdom exists. His kingdom is no different in structure to any kingdom of the world. All kingdoms bear some resemblance, including the kingdoms named in the Bible. However, only one was to be eternal, i.e. the kingdom that Jesus established (Daniel 2:44). The Bible teaches that His kingdom exists now, but where? There are certain traits that all kingdoms possess and certainly so must Jesus’ kingdom if it is to be proven to exist. With research and study, you can answer the following. Consider this:
IF THE KINGDOM HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THEN CERTAIN CRITERIA MUST EXIST
I. Four Necessities of a Kingdom
A. King
B. Territory
C. Law/Covenant
Discuss the following covenants of God in terms of: 1. What Type (earthly or spiritual)? 2. Purpose? 3. When? 4. Where?
Compare the covenant criteria with the following areas: (1) Adam (2) Noah (3) Abraham (4) Moses (5) David (6) Gospel. With each of these there was only one covenant. It must be observed that the Gospel is itself a covenant and is the last covenant God would make with His people Read for yourself: How many covenants are found in the Gospel? cf. Luke 1:72; Acts 3:25; 7:8; Rom. 11:27; Gal. 3:15,17; 4:24; Heb. 8:6-13; 9:1-4; 10:16-29; 12:24; 13:20; Eph. 2:12; Eph. 3:9, 11.
D. Subjects 1. Type (earthly or spiritual)? 2. Who? 3. Purpose? 4. When? 5. Where?
II. Does The King of the Kingdom of the Gosepl Now Have Full Authority/Power? Matt. 28: 18-20; Col. 2: 9.
A. What was promised? Mt.28:18 (“Kingdom” used 150 times in the NT) B. What was demonstrated? cf. Mark 9: 1 w/Acts 1: 4-8; Acts 2:1-4 C. What was said after Pentecost? Acts 2: 36; 1 Cor. 4: 20; Col. 1: 13; Heb. 12:28.
CONCLUSION: The establishment of the Messianic Kingdom is a direct fulfillment of the Abrahamic promise. It was established in circa A.D. 33 in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost and exists now as a spiritual kingdom. There is no other kingdom type that fulfills this promise. It was not intended nor designed to be a physical kingdom upon this earth.
