Christianity...Misunderstood The world has a misguided view as to what Christianity is and how it treats those who disagree with it’s believers. Contrary to some even in our own government, Christianity is not a violent religion when it is practiced according to design, and does not deserve being placed on a terrorist watch list. Christianity is not bent on violence. 2 Corinthinas 10: 3, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 {We are} destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and {we are} taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” (Our weapons are through words, using the power of persuasion, not through guns, knives or bombs.) Our words are spoken through love, not through actions of hatred or words of belittlement. Ephesians 4: 15, “but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all {aspects} into Him who is the head, {even} Christ.” Our life is one of respect for the government. Romans 13: 1-6, “1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for {rulers} are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.” We do seek to persuade others to follow God’s way of life for all, but we do not injure or kill those who disagree. Our desire is to help others avoid the wrath of God which will come when this world ceases to exist. We seek to convince others that God is not just a God of love, but of justice and that his justice is not always as we imagine. He will have mercy on those who follow Him and justice on those who do not. Nothing we say can fully describe His love or fully prepare one for His justice. We are messengers. We are not the judge or the jury. |
