A BUSY SUMMER We have had five major events so far this summer. They include: 1) MEXICO MISSION TRIP. Twenty-four people from four different congregations (19 from Smithville) traveled to Monterrey, Mexico June 7-13 to help build a church building. We worked on the outskirts of Monterrey in the town of Guadalupe. We built the interior walls of the second floor as well as pouring some columns. Much was accomplished as we helped the Christians there to have a place to worship. 2) GREGG AVENUE VBS. A group of 12 people traveled to Florence, SC on June 21-27 for the third year to conduct a Vacation Bible School for the Gregg Ave. Church of Christ. There were approximately 40+ kids there each day. In the afternoon we performed some community service projects for the community by trimming trees in the neighborhood. This brought the church there some TV and newspaper coverage. Great things are in store for the church there. 3) DOOR KNOCKING. Eighteen people were involved in a door-knocking campaign to invite people in our community to our Friends and Family Day on June 29 and our VBS on June 30-July3. Several visitors came for our Friends and Family Day. Thanks to all who helped. 4) SMITHVILLE VBS. June 30 — July 3 served as the dates for our Vacation Bible School. We averaged over 160 for the four days. Many, many people helped to make this a big success. We pray that much good will come from this effort. 5) INSPIRE SUMMER YOUTH CONFERENCE. Fourteen people just return from a week at Faulkner University for the Inspire Summer Youth Conference. There were many classes and activities for the young people to be involved in as we studied God's word together. In His Service |
